About Us

The Cambridge Boston Volleyball Association (CBVA) is an amateur athletic organization founded in the mid-1980s that provides a safe space for recreational and competitive volleyball within metropolitan Boston. The Association welcomes all volleyball enthusiasts regardless of sexual orientation, race, gender, creed, religion, or national origin. The Association focuses on providing members of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (GLBTQ) community a venue to engage in the sport of volleyball. CBVA was officially registered with the City of Boston in 2008.

For more than 25 years, Boston-area gay men and women have been playing volleyball through the CBVA. The league has evolved greatly since its inception. It now offers three levels of play which accommodate all skills and experience. The league also organizes and sponsors social events for members, as well as skill clinics.

CBVA is a member of NAGVA, the North American Gay Volleyball Association.
